She's gone...

The vehicles that we have driven over the past 17 years have really been a way to captivate the ebb and flow of our lives. We started with the car Ben drove in high school - an 81 Firebird. I never really was fond of that car but I drove it none the less. When I got prenant with Camden it was apprent that we needed a different car (the back seat of a firebird would not work with a carseat!). So we searched and searched for just the right car. We looked for months - and settled on a Pontiac Bonneville. However, we couldn't find one that we really wanted - low miles, good color.....one day we saw one for sale by owner in Fremont. Within a day it was ours.

If our Bonneville could talk it would tell about bringing the three oldest kids home from the hospital and countless adventures to Colorado and other random place. She was a great car....but when we got pregnant with our fourth child and that was the end of her. She was replaced with our minivan and Ben drove her as a work car until last spring when she died along Highway 77 north of Fremont. She has been parked in our back alley until a month ago when the metal recyclers came to pick her up. Feels like a little bit of us is gone....
PS - that Grand Am behind the bonneville on the trailer was one of Ben's old work cars as well. He now drives a Ford Focus to work. Hopefully what we have will last for awhile.

Rest is peace, Bonne. I will miss you. You had a personality all your own.
