The saga continues...

My life is so shallow that the majority of my time the last month has been taken with thoughts of my teeth. They are sore and last Monday I went in for my 5th of 7 appointments. (I thought) As the dentist was working on two teeth that needed cavities filled I could sense that things weren't going as he suspected they would. When the first filling was completed, he stated that the second tooth had lots of decay and he was getting close to the nerve. That meant that at some point I could have some sensitivity and if I felt anything I was to let him know immediately. (I, at this point, thought wouldn't I come flying out of the chair if you hit that nerve and I felt it!) Anyway, I never felt anything but he did come to the conclusion that we had better leave the tooth alone for 16 weeks and put a temporary filling in. I was fine until he said, "There is a 50/50 chance that tooth will need a root canal no matter what we do." At this point, I stated, "you cant suck water from a rock---we got no money left for this!" He laughed, I didn't! Okay, I laughed a little and we proceeded to plan out the next few months of dental care. The whole 7 appointment goal is now a lie and it is going to be at least 8 and more if I do have a root canal on that tooth. At any rate, I have lots to be thankful for. (My teeth are not one of them.)

But let me switch gears a bit --My Uncle Don (moms brother) who appears to be a faithful reader of my blog recently reported that he had been to the dentist. His comment appeared last week to one of my dental posts:

me too last week
no pain but I still can't walk
UD

He is funny. The interesting part of this comment is that he really can't walk. He is paralyzed from the waist down. Check out his story here. Click on the right column where it says "What happened" It will make you thankful you can even get to the dentist!

Jason is having a ton of teeth work done too. He would appreciate your blog but he doesn't read. I'll have to relate this to him. We are also having a lot of unwanted dental bills because of this also. Guess you gotta do what ya gotta do, right?

Hi Sandy - it is always easy to find someone worse off than you and I are.
How would you like to be a Bosnian refugee wandering from town to town after seeing you husband killed, your daughters kidnapped and your house burned to the ground? We could go to the dentist everyday of our life and still be better off.
I am of course not happy about my situation but I have no complaints as life is still good and I have lots to look forward to each day.
Someday, some how some way God is going to fix everything and I mean EVERYTHING including your teeth
