Bible School started this week. I have not been closely involved in the planning but have been on the fringes and had been assigned a small daily role. No preparation, elementary age kids and lots of fun was awaiting me this week. Until, Sunday when my a very dear friend called to ask and inform me of a glitch in the plans. The preschool games leader was not going to be able to make it and she asked if I would do it. I wanted to be helpful and available and do the right thing so I said, "yes". I prayed fervently for a good attitude which the Lord gave me early Monday morning. By 10:30 by attitude was in the dumps because, you see, I am not a fan of preschoolers. I don't really like working with small kids and frankly I made a kid cry in the first hour. I wasn't designed to work with them.

Enter my dear and wonderful friends---(who, mind you, helped me into this predicament) By noon it was clear that I was frustrated and concerned with how I was going to get through the week. By 2:00pm I had thankfully been replaced and had been ordered back to my original assignment. Sigh!! God is Real and God is really everywhere.

Here is the lesson learned: Just because you are capable of doing something doesn't mean you should do it. That doesn't mean that there won't be times when I have to do things outside my comfort zone. Also, it is important to have friends that you can be honest with and that will go to bat for you. For them I am thankful.

So on with VBS - may God be glorified.

That's a good lesson on knowing your limits AND it's nice of you to be willing to try. I love preschoolers, but would never want to teach a class full of them.
